Littlestone hosted the Kent Pearson Trophy Finals
Monday 15th June 2009
Chestfield played Sundridge Park.
Sundridge Park won 4/1
The first semi final was between Chestfield and Sundridge Park.
The second semi final was between Nizels and Westerham.
The morning started well, all the teams arrived in good time, weather conditions were good, with very little wind and the overcast conditions give us a cool start to the matches.
Sundridge Park were first to tee off against rookie finalists Chestfield.
Chestfield put up a valiant fight, but were beaten by the experienced Sundridge Park team.
Last years champions Westerham were drawn against the ever present Nizels, this looked a very tasty match and it did turn out that way, with Nizels winning 4/3. The match was played in a very sporting way with the ever present adversaries enjoying each other company.
Sundridge Park teed off to set the final in motion, the weather had changed to sunny and 10 mph winds, the locals were nodding their heads saying ah! the tide has turned.
Gradually the matches were coming to their conclusion, the grape vine reported three wins for Nizels, one of these was a walk over, Helen Kennedy had turned an ankle over when she slipped down a ditch, she tried to continue but found the pain too great to continue, and had to concede the match to Amanda Rose, everyone's heart went out to Helen.
The tide had indeed turned, the next report was that Sundridge Park had taken the following three matches, putting everyone in a state of high excitement.
The deciding match was between Betty Galbraith (21) and Liz Heis (20) . At one stage Betty was three holes ahead of Liz, but Liz fought back and won the Kent Pearson Trophy for Nizels.
Nizels 4 - Sundridge Park 3
